Tijuana, May 13. Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz signed an agreement with the National Electoral Institute (INE) to support and collaborate with this organization in the framework of the election of members of the Judicial Branch, which will take place on June 1.
In this regard, Municipal Government Secretary Arnulfo Guerrero León explained that the agreement will establish the foundations and mechanisms for carrying out various strategies and activities that will allow the INE to provide accessible locations in public spaces, as well as ensure that facilities are available outside the schools that have been proposed for polling place locations.
The executive member of the Local Executive Board of the INE in Baja California, Liliana Díaz de León Zapata, recalled that since 2022, the agency has approved measures to guarantee accessibility for all, including people with disabilities and senior citizens, in the locations where the 1,178 polling stations in Tijuana are located, according to a press release.
The mayor emphasized the importance of working in coordination so that the extraordinary local electoral process, "which will be historic," is carried out responsibly, orderly, and peacefully, and offered "the full support of the municipal administration."
Also in attendance were Nelly del Carmen Pabello Vega, the City Council's chief officer, and Juan Alejandro Ramírez Hernández, the member of the Electoral Organization of the State Local Executive Board of the INE.
