Municipalities urged to replicate Mexico City's program

Mexicali, July 5. The Baja California Congress urged the governors of the state's seven municipalities to incorporate the Points of Innovation, Freedom, Art, Education, and Knowledge (Pilares) program into their public policies.

The proposal was presented by local representative Liliana Michel Sánchez Allende, who argued that implementing these types of programs fosters equality, progress, and the transformation of people's living conditions.

Pilares is a project that offers education and job training to young people. It was launched in 2018 in Mexico City, during Claudia Sheinbaum's term as mayor.

In 2020, he was awarded the "Building Equality 2020" Prize by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), a prize awarded to cities in Latin America and the Caribbean by the International Center for the Promotion of Human Rights.

For this reason, municipalities were urged to replicate this model, primarily in areas with lower levels of development and social well-being, adapting it to the different realities of each municipality.
