Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the single price for rice aims to lock in the price of all rice subsidized by the government to prevent misuse by the private sector.
"We want to lock up all state-subsidized rice. This must be controlled and intervened," Amran said during a working meeting with Commission IV, which oversees agriculture, in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday.
He said that the government had held limited coordination meetings regarding the one-price rice policy around 3-4 times.
The consideration in implementing the one-price rice policy is the high food subsidy, which stands at IDR 164.4 trillion.
