They propose reactivating industrial warehouses in BC prisons to provide jobs for inmates.

Mexicali, February 3.- The State Penitentiary System and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare discussed the possibility of reactivating 16 industrial warehouses within the state's penitentiary centers, this to contribute to a possible pre-release benefit and, in turn, so that inmates can continue working once they are released.

The above was raised at a meeting held by Elena Andrade Ramírez, Commissioner of the State Penitentiary System, and Alejandro Arregui, Secretary of Labor and Social Security.

Elena Andrade Ramírez stated that these actions will increase the number of inmates who will have jobs, which will help them with social reintegration and provide them with an income they can use for their own expenses and to support their families.

For his part, the Secretary of Labor mentioned that this is an opportunity to provide a special focus on this segment of the population, highlighting that PPLs are a skilled workforce that can generate skills and even certify the prison industry.

In addition to Elena Andrade Ramírez and Alejandro Arregui, the following people participated in the meeting, which took place in the boardroom of the Ministry of Labor: Juan Carlos Buenrostro, Mónica Hernández, Julio Estanislao Rubio Díaz, Gustavo Martínez, and Jorge Jesús Razo, representing the State Penitentiary System; and Blanca Patricia Ríos, Octavio Hilton Reyes, and Gladis Cervantes representing the Ministry of Labor.
