UABC students receive "No Giving Up" and "Wings" scholarships

Mexicali, March 8. With the goal of benefiting undergraduate students facing financial hardship , the UABC Foundation awarded 17 "No Giving Up" scholarships and three "Wings" scholarships.

The funds were obtained during the tenth edition of the "Prohibido Rendirse" athletic race, which took place last November at the foot of El Centinela Hill.

The "Prohibido Dirrerse" scholarship consists of a monthly financial aid of four thousand pesos to help students cover school and living expenses. Meanwhile, the "Alas" scholarship provides students participating in academic exchange programs outside of Mexico with five thousand dollars for a regular semester to cover travel, lodging, living expenses, visa fees, and international medical insurance.

At the award ceremony, the rector of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre, stated that it is important for the university to promote equity among students who, due to their socioeconomic circumstances, would be unable to access the benefits of higher education.
