Indonesian badminton legend Candra Wijaya has ambitions to produce a golden generation of Indonesian doubles.
This ambition was expressed through a tournament titled the 13th Yonex-Sunrise Doubles Special Championships 2025 at Daihatsu Yonex-Sunrise Candra Wijaya (DYSCW), Jelupang, Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten on September 10-13.
"I'm holding this event with the goal of further popularizing doubles. It's also to help the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) by providing coaching," Candra said in an official statement on Wednesday.
"Through this championship, I'm giving talented young players in the doubles group the opportunity to hone and improve their skills, as well as gain experience," he added.
The tournament, which consists of men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles, is divided into three age group categories, namely U-15, U-17, and U-19.
This tournament, which has been held since 2009, also features men's adult doubles, mixed adult doubles and domestic adult doubles.
In addition to the 12 numbers, a three on three match was also played for the combined ages of 100+ and 150+.
