Tijuana, September 20 – Rafael Leyva Pérez, head of the Tijuana City Council's Office of the Attorney General, addressed complaints related to the misuse of roads and urban equipment in Paseos del Florido.
It was through a complaint filed by a resident of the Paseos del Florido subdivision, located on Héroes de la Independencia Boulevard, who accused a street food vendor of blocking a public transportation stop.
The complaint highlighted the difficulty users had in taking public transportation, in addition to causing multiple vehicle accidents and falls among citizens passing through the area.
Faced with this problem, the Ombudsman took the initiative to send a letter to the municipal Inspection and Verification Department, requesting its support in addressing the situation. The joint efforts of the Ombudsman and municipal authorities led to an effective solution.
On September 13, the problem was resolved with the relocation of the street vendor and the imposition of an administrative fine on the business owner. Leyva Pérez clarified that these measures are not merely intended to impose sanctions, but rather to raise awareness among street vendors about the importance of maintaining order on public streets for the benefit of the entire community.
Rafael Leyva Pérez also emphasized the Ombudsman's commitment to following up on and resolving complaints filed with the Complaints Department of the Social Ombudsman's Office, in collaboration with the City Council, with the goal of improving services and citizen care.
