Doctors at the Polakovo Clinical Hospital in the Saratov region of Russia successfully extracted a giant stone weighing about 1 kg from the bladder of a 65-year-old Russian man

"A stone of this size is extremely rare, and in my 30 years of experience, this is probably only the third case I have dealt with," said the head of the hospital's surgery department, Oleg Yakimov.

The patient was admitted to the hospital in critical condition late last week, exhibiting signs of kidney failure and bleeding inside the bladder. During emergency surgery, doctors discovered a stone that was completely occupying the bladder cavity.

The hospital indicated via its Telegram channel that the surgery was successful, and the patient is currently in the intensive care unit with signs of improvement. He is expected to undergo further surgery to restore normal urinary function.

Doctors explained that the stone being this size may be caused by changes related to prostate aging, leading to impaired urination and salt buildup in the bladder.
