Indonesia leads the digital economy, supported by the growth of AI.

Indonesia has confirmed its position as the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, with growth reaching 14 percent compared to last year and a total digital economy value, or Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), of nearly US$100 billion.

Google Indonesia Country Director Veronica Utami said that this achievement demonstrates the resilience of the national digital economy amidst global uncertainty.

"Indonesia's digital economy alone grew by 14 percent compared to last year. This means Indonesia remains the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, with its GMV now reaching nearly USD 100 billion," Veronica said in her presentation at the "e-Conomy SEA 2025" event held.

According to the "e-Conomy SEA 2025" report released by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, Southeast Asia's overall digital economy is projected to exceed US$300 billion by 2025, with a growth rate of around 15 percent per year.

Of this amount, Indonesia contributed almost a third.
