Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) and Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that his agency is focused on pursuing producers who violate the highest retail price (HET), not small retail traders, in order to protect people's businesses and maintain food stability.
"We're pursuing those suspected of violating the HET, and we're continuously monitoring their progress. But we're not focusing on small retail sellers. We're focusing on the producers. We're pursuing the producers and those exploiting this situation," he said at a press conference .
Amran said that his party supports the MinyaKita People's Cooking Oil program initiated by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) so that the government can provide this commodity at an affordable price for the community.
Therefore, he stated that his office would initiate action against violators of the highest retail price (HET) for MinyaKita. Bapanas has discovered alleged violations of the HET by producers supplied to small traders at Pasar Rumput.
"The National Mandate Party's has arrived, and the National Mandate Party's Deputy has arrived. I've asked for an investigation to be carried out, including the producer and the factory," Amran added.
On that occasion, Amran also appealed to all parties that in facing Christmas and New Year, all entrepreneurs should not increase prices, especially those violating the HET set by the government.
"Yesterday we found out that two cooking oil companies had raised their prices," said Amran.
It is known that the findings of the HET MinyaKita were obtained from the results of a surprise inspection by Bapanas together with the Ministry of Trade and the Food Task Force of the Republic of Indonesia National Police (Polri) at Pasar Rumput.
Some traders at the market claimed to obtain their MinyaKita supplies from distributors using a bundling scheme. Under this scheme, the price of MinyaKita is determined by dividing the purchase price by two for the premium packaged oil.
