Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development  Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) is encouraging applied research for infrastructure resilience.

He appreciated the strategic collaboration between the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and the National Research and Innovation Agency  in encouraging the use of applied research and innovation to support resilient and sustainable national development.

"I deeply appreciate Prof. Arief Satria and the BRIN family for their excellent collaboration. This commitment to advancing applied research and innovation is crucial, especially in supporting infrastructure development and addressing various challenges in the field," AHY said in a statement.

He gave the example of the use of tactical drone technology which has been used to map infrastructure damage due to natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

This technology helps the government in setting priorities for handling and accelerating the distribution of humanitarian aid to ensure it reaches the right targets.

"Behind us are tactical drones that have been used to map infrastructure damage and prioritize humanitarian aid. This is a concrete example of how research and innovation truly resonate and provide immediate benefits," said AHY.
