Influenza type A is dangerous for children with comorbidities
The Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), Dr. Piprim Basarah Yaniarso Sp.A(K), said that the rainy season and floods can increase the incidence of transmission of influenza type A, which is very dangerous for children who have comorbidities.

"Children with comorbidities like these who contract the new type of influenza A will certainly experience more serious consequences than children without comorbidities," Piprim said during an online discussion on "Recognizing and Being Aware of Superflu".

He said that comorbid diseases in children include asthma, chronic heart and lung disease, as well as children with lifestyle diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other metabolic syndromes.

Influenza type A, which is widely circulated as superflu, is part of the influenza subclade K which is reportedly quite difficult to recognize and can penetrate the body's established immunity.
