"This SLM is crucial for developing AI in specific sectors. And we're encouraging it as part of innovation to develop solutions in specific sectors, such as healthcare and education," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Technology Nezar during a media briefing after attending the AI Pre-Summit 2026.
In encouraging the development of language modeling platforms to support AI development, Nezar said the Ministry of Communication and Digital is collaborating with various universities as research centers and building an AI Talent Factory.
"It's already running at Brawijaya University. This year, we'll expand to ITS, then UGM, and possibly also to a number of other campuses that have already communicated with Komdigi to develop this project ," he said.
