Cardiologist Dr. Andrei Kondrakhin points out that the body digests tea, unlike coffee, slowly and gently, but it should not be consumed excessively, especially in the evening or in the case of certain diseases

The doctor told RT: "Theoretically, tea is much better than coffee because the caffeine in it is absorbed very slowly."

The doctor indicated that consuming up to three cups of tea daily (each cup weighing 200 grams) — for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea — is considered a safe amount.

He added: “Tea can be drunk throughout the day, but it is preferable to drink it before 6 pm, because it is a stimulant for the body. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce its consumption in the evening specifically, because it may negatively affect sleep. Also, excessive consumption of it, especially concentrated tea, may cause insomnia.”

The doctor advised extreme caution for people with high blood pressure , cardiovascular disease , or liver problems .

He explained: "People with liver problems are advised to reduce their consumption of green tea because it significantly affects liver function, and the dose should not exceed one cup per day."

As for herbal tea , the dosage depends on its purpose; one cup a day is sufficient for prevention, while treatment requires strict adherence to the doctor's prescription.
