Palestinian Ministry of Education: Israeli occupation forces killed approximately 8,000 students and educational staff during 2025
The ministry said in a statement that it had documented the toll of Israeli violations against educational institutions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, from the beginning of this year until December 31, noting that these figures reflect the extent of the systematic targeting of the educational process.

She explained that the number of martyrs among school students reached 6,910, most of them in the Gaza Strip, with 6,876 male and female students, in addition to 34 students in the occupied West Bank, while the number of injured among school students reached 9,138, including 8,846 in Gaza and 292 in the West Bank.

Regarding higher education, the ministry reported the martyrdom of 578 university students, including 574 in the Gaza Strip and 4 in the occupied West Bank, in addition to more than 1,419 students being injured to varying degrees, and the arrest of 204 students in the West Bank.

She also pointed out that educational and academic staff were not spared from targeting, as 302 teachers and administrators were killed in schools in the Gaza Strip and 658 others were injured, while two educational staff members were killed in the occupied West Bank, 7 others were injured and 30 were arrested.

She added that the death toll also included 111 academics and staff members from universities in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 247 others being injured, and 18 academics from universities in the occupied West Bank being arrested, in addition to 120 students being arrested from its schools.

This comes in the context of the war of extermination waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip since October 8, 2023, which lasted two years and resulted in more than 71,000 martyrs and 171,000 wounded Palestinians, in addition to widespread destruction affecting about 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.

Since the start of the war of extermination, Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have resulted in the martyrdom of more than 1,104 Palestinians and the injury of about 11,000, in addition to the arrest of more than 21,000.
