The para-weightlifting branch contributed two gold medals for Indonesia at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games held at the Convention Hall, Center Point Hotel Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Friday, through Margono and Shebrioni.
Indonesia's first gold medal was won by Shebrioni, competing in the women's 61 kilogram class. The Indonesian athlete recorded a best lift of 112 kilograms, surpassing her closest competitor, Motnok Hat from Thailand, who won silver with 89 kilograms, and Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy from Vietnam, who took home bronze with 85 kilograms.
Margono won Indonesia's second gold medal in the men's 65 kilograms. He dominated with a top lift of 171 kilograms, securing the title, defeating Vietnam's Nguyen Be Hau, who lifted 163 kilograms, and Thailand's Chumchai Phongsakon, who lifted 162 kilograms.
Indonesia also fielded Astuti Rani Puji in the women's 67-kilogram class. However, Astuti had to settle for fourth place with a lift of 91 kilograms. Malaysian athlete Binti Ahmad Bibiana won the gold medal in the women's 67-kilogram class with a lift of 95 kilograms.
