Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) platforms that provide information about religion should use accurate data sources.
As quoted in a ministry press statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday, he said that without a training process using accurate data sources, such AI platforms could display biased and misleading answers to their users.
"For Aiman and Aisha, if the data is not trained properly , it can produce results that deviate from religious principles," he said at the launch of the Aiman and Aisha Islamic Artificial Intelligence Platform in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (4/3).
Nezar appreciated the platform developers' efforts to mitigate risks by preventing AI from answering sensitive and critical questions.
"This is good, so there is already a kind of risk filter for sensitive and somewhat critical questions, he will immediately suggest asking the ustaz and others," he said.
Nezar hopes that the Aiman and Aisha platforms can be a good breakthrough in the use of AI in the religious field.
"Hopefully, with more intensive development, Aiman and Aisha can become smarter and be able to answer many of our questions," said Nezar.
Responding to the presence of the Aiman and Aisha platform, the Chairman of the Lazismu PP Muhammadiyah Management Board, Ahmad Imam Mujaddid Rais, said that the platform offers solutions to current problems.
"The presence of Aiman and Aisha enriches the treasures of Islam in society to give birth to a harmonious understanding of religion," said Ahmad.
Ahmad hopes that the platform developers will supplement the data with references to religious books and fatwas from scholars in order to provide more complete and accurate information to their users.
