Indonesian men's singles player Jonatan Christie admitted that he lacked patience in dealing with the fast game of Taiwanese representative Lin Chun-Yi, which resulted in his elimination in the round of 16 of the 2026 All England Open.
Jonatan had to stop his progress after losing two straight games 19-21, 12-21 in the match at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England.
"Thank God, I'm still grateful even though the final result wasn't what I hoped for, but I think I did my best," Jonatan said in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI).
According to him, Lin appeared very solid with a fast tempo and a variety of difficult shots.
"He plays much faster, and he also has a variety of shots that are quite difficult and not easy to beat," said Jonatan.
This situation made Jonathan feel less calm in developing the game so that the strategy that had been prepared did not run optimally.
