Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah's progress was halted in the round of 16 of the 2026 Malaysia Masters, ensuring that Indonesia will be without mixed doubles representatives in the quarterfinals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament.
Amri/Nita had to admit the superiority of second seeded Malaysian pair Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei after losing 19-21, 20-22 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala.
The defeat completes the failure of two other Indonesian representatives in the mixed doubles event. Previously, Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil lost to the Danish pair Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje 21-13, 10-21, 13-21.
Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti experienced a similar fate, losing to the Thai pair Pakkapon Teeraratsakul/Sapsiree Taerattanachai with a score of 21-18, 18-21, 16-21.
Despite the loss, Amri/Nita actually played quite competitively against the top-seeded host pair. In the first game, they managed to catch up before failing to capitalize on the momentum in the final points.
