Indonesian women's doubles pair Apriyani Rahayu and Lanny Tria Mayasari admitted they needed to improve their tactical play after their elimination in the round of 16 of the 2026 BWF World Tour Super 500 Malaysia Masters at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
Apriyani/Lanny had to admit the superiority of the Chinese pair Chen Fan Shu Tian/Luo Xu Min after losing in a three-game match 10-21, 21-15, 17-21.
"In future evaluations, we must have a more tactical playing style," Apriyani said in an official statement from PP PBSI after the match.
The Indonesian pair struggled in the first game after being carried away by their opponent's playing style, which relied on long rallies and straight balls.
"In the first game, we were still surprised by our opponent's long, straight game, and we got carried away. We lost a lot of points and were under pressure," said Lanny.
The situation changed in the second game after the Indonesian pair received instructions to change their playing pattern and avoid long rallies with their opponents.
