Indonesian men's doubles badminton players Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin were eliminated in the first round of the 2026 Malaysia Masters.
In the match that took place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday, Leo/Daniel acknowledged the strength of the Chinese doubles pair Hu Ke Yuan/Lin Xiang Yi through rubber games 19-21, 21-13, 15-21.
"They played better today, but we also made a lot of mistakes. In the third game, I made mistakes in critical points, especially," Daniel said.
Daniel admitted that his current fitness condition is still optimal despite having to go through a busy schedule because he appeared at the 2026 Thailand Open which took place last week.
"We really need to be more prepared because after winning yesterday, losing in the first round is not good," said Daniel, who secured the 2026 Thailand Open title.
Meanwhile, Leo assessed that this defeat should be a catalyst to perform even better at the 2026 Indonesia Open.
"We need to be quicker in adapting and making decisions on the pitch to the changing conditions," Leo added regarding his shortcomings in this match.
Leo/Daniel were recently paired again by the PBSI coaching team after last being paired at the 2024 Indonesia Open.
