The Canadian national team will meet Qatar in their second Group B match of the 2026 World Cup, at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
Both teams have the same mission: to achieve their first victory in the World Cup to increase their chances of advancing to the knockout phase this year, which begins with the round of 32.
Previously, these two countries had just picked up their first points during their participation in the World Cup.
Canada, playing in their third World Cup after 1986 and 2022, earned their first point after a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina last Saturday at Toronto Stadium.
Canada earned a point thanks to Cyle Larin's goal (78') which equalized Jovo Lukic's goal (21') in the first half.
Meanwhile, Qatar, playing in its second World Cup after hosting in 2022, earned its first point in a 1-1 draw against Switzerland at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.
Qatar had Swiss midfielder Miro Muheim (90+4') to thank for scoring an own goal in the dying minutes. The goal leveled the score after Switzerland had taken the lead through Breel Embolo's penalty (17') in the first half.
