The Palestine Football Federation (PFA) has denied reports that FIFA is planning a match between the Palestinian and Israeli U15 national teams at a football festival to be held in the United States in September.
Earlier, The Athletic reported on Monday that FIFA was working on a match between Palestine and Israel as the opening match in a "football festival" that would involve U15 teams.
The tournament is said to use a shorter match format, smaller pitches, and fewer players, by inviting all 211 FIFA members, including Russia, which is currently banned from the World Cup and other major competitions.
However, in an official statement released on Thursday, the PFA confirmed that they had never received any official communication or proposal from FIFA regarding the match plans.
"Under the current circumstances, the PFA categorically rejects any attempt to promote or impose matches with the occupying power that systematically targets Palestinian athletes and Palestinian sporting infrastructure," the PFA wrote on social media on Thursday.
