Police in Scotland said on Saturday that counter-terrorism officers are investigating a series of violent attacks that took place on Friday in different areas of the capital, Edinburgh, which resulted in injuries to five men.
Police added in a statement that they arrested a 36-year-old white Scottish man following a series of threats, robberies, and acts of vandalism, and that three of the five injured required hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Police officers in Edinburgh confronted the suspect and arrested him at approximately 8:30 p.m. GMT.
Local media sources confirmed that the attacks were motivated by hatred and hostility towards Muslims , as shown in a video circulating online of the suspect being arrested by police.
