Indonesian men's doubles pair Devin Artha Wahyudi/Ali Faathir Rayhan had to settle for runner-up at the 2026 Macau Open after losing to South Korean pair Jin Yong/Lee Jongmin.
In the final match of the BWF Super 300 event which took place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, Macau, China, Sunday, Devin/Faathir had to admit the toughness of Jin/Lee with 21-18, 19-21, 10-21.
Devin/Faathir had a promising performance, winning the first game 21-18. The Indonesian pair maintained their lead from the start and maintained their lead until closing the opening game with a three-point lead.
Entering the second game, Devin/Faathir again put on an impressive performance. They even took an 11-6 lead at halftime and widened the lead to 15-10.
However, Jin/Lee slowly recovered and reduced the deficit to equalize the score at 16-16.
The tight battle unfolded in crucial points. After the scores were tied at 18-18 and 19-19, the South Korean pair won two consecutive points to secure the second game with a score of 21-19, forcing the match into a decider.
In the third game, Devin/Faathir struggled to cope with the pressure. After maintaining a 4-5 lead, the Indonesian pair lost momentum and fell behind in a series of points, allowing Jin/Lee to surge to a 13-4 lead.
Despite their efforts to catch up, Devin/Faathir were unable to stem their opponent's dominance. Jin/Lee maintained their lead and closed out the third game with a convincing 21-10 victory.
This result meant that Devin/Faathir had to admit the toughness of Jin Yong/Lee Jongmin with a score of 21-18, 19-21, 10-21.
Despite failing to win the title, the runner-up finish was a positive result for Devin/Faathir, who advanced to the BWF Super 300 final for the first time.
