Facebook and Instagram are back to normal after experiencing global disruptions

Access to social media platforms Facebook and Instagram has returned to normal after experiencing global disruptions.

Meta's Vice President of Communications, Andy Stones, announced the news in a post on his personal X account. Although accessible, Stones stated that it would take time for all Meta services to be fully restored.

"We're back, although it may still take a little while for everything to fully return to normal," Andy said, stating that the Meta platform had been restored, as quoted on Saturday.

many Facebook and Instagram users in various countries complained about a number of disruptions, such as not being able to update their feeds and not being able to log into their accounts for several hours.

These complaints were also experienced by Facebook and Instagram users in Indonesia. Downdetector recorded around a thousand reports of access disruptions on both platforms. The disruptions occurred between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).

When contacted by Antara regarding this phenomenon, Meta Indonesia referred to the statement made by Stone in X's post on his personal account.

Meanwhile, in the United States, Downdetector recorded 5,677 reports of Instagram outages and 3,644 reports of Facebook outages as of 10:36 p.m. local time.

According to a Channel News Asia report, there were more than 62,000 outage reports for Facebook and 8,000 for Instagram globally recorded on Downdetector.

Users in Singapore, the Philippines, India, Australia, and Canada also experienced similar disruptions when accessing Meta's platform.
