Futurepreneur Lab helps university startups enter the market

WU Hub launched Futurepreneur Lab 2026 to help startups or university-led companies enter the market through business acceleration and mentoring programs.

"We have no shortage of innovation, no shortage of creative ideas, and no shortage of intellectuals from universities," said WU Hub Founder Charles Lee at a press conference launching Futurepreneur Lab 2026.

However, the development of higher education innovations in fields such as technology, agriculture, energy, and the digital economy into products and solutions that can be widely used has so far been considered to still face obstacles in the downstream and commercialization processes.

"Nowadays, what people are looking for is not just an attractive presentation, but something that is real, has benefits, and is actually used by the public," said Charles.

Spil Ventures' Vice President of Investment, Sumarny Manurung, stated that many innovative ideas from campus environments end up remaining as research only because they lack adequate channels to reach the market.

He said investors need proof that a solution is truly needed and has the potential to be developed into a sustainable business.

Therefore, early stage startups need market validation.

In this process, developers can obtain feedback from potential users and understand market demand to minimize the risk of failure when the product is launched to a wider audience.

Futurepreneur Lab is designed to help prepare college startups to enter the market.

The program provides an opportunity for 20 startup representatives from selected universities to participate in mentoring, incubation, market validation, and Investment Day activities.

Program participants will undergo eight mentoring sessions covering business development, risk management, funding strategies, and market entry preparation.

They also gain access to the Catalyst platform which allows the public to provide direct feedback on the products they offer.

Through this program, innovations born on campus are expected to be developed into products and solutions that bring sustainable economic and social benefits.
