The Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2026, themed "More Than a Race," held by Bank Mandiri in the Prambanan Temple area, is a combination of a running competition and a tourism experience.
"This sports tourism event combines an international-standard running competition with a tourism experience, cultural celebration, social impact, and a journey through Yogyakarta in one integrated series of activities," said Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary Adhika Vista.
According to him, the theme "More Than a Race" is broken down into four expressions: the iconic running experience the cultural celebration the trip, and the social and economic impact.
He said that MJM 2026 will be a stage for strengthening the people's economic ecosystem while providing added value to the community and the regional economy, and as a model for national sports tourism that brings social, cultural, and economic value.
"MJM is a manifestation of integrated synergy between Bank Mandiri, the community, MSMEs, and local governments. We want every runner's step to have a real impact on the environment and society," he said.
MJM 2026 will be attended by 10,200 runners from 17 countries and will be the largest participant event since it was held in 2017. It will present four categories, namely Marathon (42,195 kilometers), Half Marathon (21,097 kilometers), 10K, and 5K Fun Run, with a track that has been certified by AIMS.
"Through an approach that combines sports, culture, sustainability, and economic empowerment, MJM becomes a benchmark for national sports tourism, as well as a celebration of a vibrant and sustainable city, and provides added value to the people of Yogyakarta," he said.
