The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government is offering green investment and tourism to Oman to encourage quality and sustainable investment in the local area.
This was raised during a meeting between NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal and the Omani Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohamed Ahmed Salim, at the NTB Governor's office in Mataram.
Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal explained that there are various superior investment opportunities offered to Oman, starting from the renewable energy sector, tourism, and downstream marine and fisheries.
"This is part of an effort to strengthen the regional economic transformation," said Iqbal.
Iqbal said that in the energy sector, NTB offers a number of green energy projects ready for development, including a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Sengkol, Central Lombok, a Wind Power Plant (PLTB) in Jerowaru, East Lombok, as well as the utilization of regional dams for the development of floating PLTS and small-scale hydroelectric power plants.
"All of these projects are supported by abundant natural resource potential, relatively low investment risk, and long-term business prospects," he said.
In addition to energy, Iqbal said, the tourism sector is also a focus of investment offerings. The NTB Provincial Government is promoting a number of priority projects in the form of premium accommodation developments in strategic areas, including Kerakas Beach with its Seven Undersea Springs destination, Gili Gede, Mauktika Mandalika, and Kuta Heights.
"These areas are supported by national strategic status, land readiness, and the government's commitment to providing easy licensing for investors," said the NTB Governor.
Furthermore, investment potential is also wide open in the marine and fisheries sector. With continuously increasing aquaculture production, NTB offers opportunities to develop superior commodities such as seaweed, lobster, and freshwater fish, including the downstreaming of the salt industry on Sumbawa Island and the construction of a post-harvest center and modern cold storage at the Soromandi Fishing Port, Cempi Bay, to support the export of high-value commodities such as tuna and skipjack.
According to the Governor, the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government (Pemprov) affirmed its commitment to building mutually beneficial investment partnerships that are oriented toward sustainability and provide added value to the regional economy and community welfare.
"Collaboration with international partners like Oman is expected to not only generate new investment flows but also accelerate clean energy development, strengthen the competitiveness of the tourism sector, and encourage the downstreaming of marine resources as a foundation for inclusive and sustainable economic growth in West Nusa Tenggara," he said.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Service, the Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Service (DPMPTSP), and the Head of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of NTB Province.
