Serena and Venus Williams received wildcards for the 2026 Wimbledon doubles tournament

Six-time Wimbledon doubles champions Venus Williams and Serena Williams have received wild cards for the women's doubles event at Wimbledon 2026, marking their first tournament together since the 2022 US Open.

The initial impetus for reuniting the Williams sisters didn't come from either of them. Instead, it was Serena's eight-year-old daughter, Olympia, who had the idea.

"I think it's going to be fun. My daughter, Olympia, said I should play Venus. She's always right," Serena was quoted as saying.

"She said, 'Mom, you have to play with Venus.' She was very serious, she was very smart. She was very thoughtful. I said, 'Okay, Olympia, let's see if we can do this.'"

The Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together, the second-most of any women's team in the modern era of tennis, behind Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver's 20 major titles.

Serena, who retired from tennis after the 2022 US Open, returned to professional competition last week at Queen's, partnering Victoria Mboko.
