Setu Babakan holds an Arts and Culture Festival to welcome  499th anniversary

 





  The Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Management held the 2026 Setu Babakan Arts and Culture Festival to celebrate the 499th anniversary.

"The Betawi Cultural Village Area Management Unit  Setu Babakan is holding the 2026 Setu Babakan Arts and Culture Festival  said Head of the Betawi Cultural Village Area Management Unit Setu Babakan, Debby Novita Andriani , Saturday.

Debby said that this activity is a space for cultural celebration that presents various traditional Betawi arts, a culinary bazaar, and collaborative performances that revive Betawi arts that are rarely performed.

Throughout the event, visitors will be treated to various typical Betawi performances, ranging from Dynamic Ondel-ondel, Tanjidor, Gambang Kromong Music, Betawi Dance, to Sahibul Hikayat which is a legacy of the Betawi people's oral tradition.

Not only presenting art performances, the Setu Babakan Cultural Arts Festival also presents 40 culinary bazaar tenants offering a variety of typical Betawi foods and drinks as well as Indonesian cuisine.

"We hope this bazaar will support MSMEs and introduce the rich flavors of Betawi cuisine to the wider community," he said.

The event will conclude with a Betawi comedy show entitled "Tempoh Ayunan", featuring renowned Betawi artists such as H. Mandra, Opick Kumis and Mpo Munaroh.

This performance not only carries the typical Betawi comedy elements that are full of social criticism and local wisdom, but is also packaged in the form of collaboration across traditional arts that brings back a variety of Betawi arts that are now becoming rare.

Through "Tempoh Ayunan", viewers will be invited to witness a fusion of Betawi theater art with various traditional arts such as Rebana Biang, Gamelan Ajeng, Uncul, Betawi Mask Art, and Betawi Silat.

The types of art displayed at this event are mostly types of art that have been designated as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

This collaboration is a concrete form of effort to revitalize traditional arts that have high historical value in the development of Betawi culture.

Therefore, the Manager of the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Area said that holding this activity is part of the commitment to maintaining the sustainability of Betawi cultural heritage amidst the development of the times.
