Haaland surprised everyone at the end of last August, just before the start of the season, when he replaced his usual long hair with a short hairstyle, a radical change from the look that made him one of the most easily recognizable football stars.
The Norwegian striker didn't just change his appearance; he also enjoyed his friends' reactions, calling them via video chat to witness their astonishment. Among those who commented on his new look was Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who said: "What have you done? What is this? Did you lose a bet or something?"
Haaland pointed out that his new look gave him a greater sense of privacy, despite the widespread controversy the change sparked among fans.
In comments to Sky Sports, as reported by French media, Haaland admitted that his new haircut had garnered far more attention than he had anticipated.
The player said: "I expected it to cause some buzz, but I didn't expect the whole world to be so preoccupied with my new haircut. It was hilarious."
The 26-year-old striker added: "People don't recognize me as much on the street anymore, that beautiful blond hair is no longer visible. It's a change, and I think that's a good thing."
Despite giving up one of his most distinctive off-field traits, Haaland continues to shine on the pitch, having scored seven goals in seven games for Manchester City in various competitions, while his team tops the Premier League standings.
