Indonesian badminton players are still on target

The Indonesian para-badminton team remains on track after recording 12 wins out of 20 matches on the first day of the event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games.

"Generally, because this is just a group match, we still have a chance to win or advance to the quarterfinals, even though one or two athletes lost in the early rounds. But overall, our athletes are still safe to advance to the quarterfinals," said Indonesian Para Badminton Coach Coordinator Jarot Hernowo in Nagoya.

Of the 20 matches played at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium, Indonesia recorded 12 wins and eight losses.

A number of medal hopefuls started the competition with positive results, including Leani Ratri Oktila who defeated Kanak Singh Jadaun 21-2, 21-4 in the women's singles SL4.

Ratri then paired with Khalimatus Sadiyah to defeat Mandeep Kaur/Shanthiya Vishwanathan from India 21-14, 21-19 in the women's doubles SL3-SU5.

Khalimatus also won two other matches. She defeated Chanida Srinavakul from Thailand 21-10, 21-15 in the SL4 women's singles, then together with Fredy Setiawan defeated Ruthick Ragupathi/Manasi Girishchandra Joshi 21-15, 21-4 in the SL3-SU5 mixed doubles.
