Ronaldo announced via his Instagram account last Wednesday that he was leaving the camp following a disagreement with Jesus, after he sat on the bench without participating in the win over Norway (2-1) last week, despite starting in the previous match against Wales, which ended in Portugal’s favor with a clean goal.
The crisis did not affect the field performance of the "Sailors of Europe," as the Portuguese national team achieved a resounding victory over its Danish host with a score of 4-2 in the European Nations League, thus strengthening its lead in Group 4 in the first level with a perfect score (9 points from 3 matches), and with a difference of 6 points from its pursuers Denmark, Norway and Wales.
In comments reported by Sport TV, Jesus responded to a question about the players' support for him, saying: "Of course, there is nothing preventing the group from standing with me. I understand the implication of the question, but the most important thing is to focus on our work on the pitch. These events have not divided us and will never divide us."
Regarding the possibility of Ronaldo returning to the national team in the future, Jesus preferred to focus on the sporting aspect, saying: "We played a high-quality match against Denmark and scored four goals at a high level, and that is the most important thing of all that happened. Our full focus is now on the upcoming match against Norway, and the players are ready to fight at the Dragão Stadium
