KSPN urges student action on October 28 to uphold the spirit of unity

National Trade Union Confederation President Ristadi appealed to students and other community members who will be participating in the October 28, 2026, demonstration to convey their aspirations in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Considering that the action coincides with Youth Pledge Day, Ristadi,
also urged that the action be carried out in accordance with the spirit of unity.

"October 28th marks a historic moment for youth to unite and strengthen their resolve to build a united Indonesia through the Youth Pledge. This spirit must be maintained by the younger generation, including students, to realize a better Indonesia," he said.

He said that freedom of expression in public is a citizen's right that must be respected and protected as part of conveying aspirations and social control over state administrators.

However, according to Ristadi, the action must still prioritize order, peace, and responsibility.

"So that good intentions are also carried out in good ways, as KSPN has always done in demonstration activities," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian National Police invited the public to express their aspirations in a peaceful, orderly, and responsible manner.

National Police Public Relations Division Head Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir said in Jakarta on Tuesday that differing views and criticism are part of a healthy democracy.

Therefore, the public is expected not to hesitate to express their aspirations, but to prioritize constructive methods and not be easily provoked by unverified information.

"The Indonesian National Police respect all public aspirations. Criticism and differences of opinion are part of democracy. Let's express our aspirations peacefully, maintain public space together, and avoid being easily provoked," he said.

It is known that the Student Executive Board of the University of Indonesia and various elements of society will hold a demonstration in the HI Roundabout area.
