The Kupang City Government, East Nusa Tenggara, is accelerating the improvement of supporting facilities for the 2028 National Sports Week by following up on the recommendations of the venue visitation team to ensure infrastructure readiness and support the smooth running of the national sporting event.

"This is an opportunity for us to improve. With this visitation team, we know what's lacking. We're also open to all assessments. Don't hesitate, don't be shy, because we want to improve so that we're truly ready for the 2028 National Games," said Kupang Mayor Christian Widodo.
He expressed his gratitude to the 2028 PON Venue Visitation Team who came to Kupang City and provided various inputs regarding the readiness of the venues and supporting infrastructure.
"The Kupang City Government is open to all assessments because there is still sufficient time to make improvements before the 2028 National Games," he said.
He also appreciated the input from the Deputy Chairman of the Central KONI and stated that Kupang City is ready to learn from the experiences of other regions.
Regarding the visitation results, Christian said that the needs that fall under the authority of the NTT Provincial Government will be forwarded to the NTT Governor, while the Kupang City Government will follow up on matters that fall under the authority of the city government, including supporting infrastructure such as roads and facilities around the venue.
According to him, venue readiness is not just a matter of infrastructure, but also a form of appreciation for the athletes' hard work and dedication to delivering their best performance.
"Every facility we have prepared is actually a form of appreciation for those who have trained diligently and placed their hopes in every competition arena," he said.
