Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that three of its citizens were killed and others injured in two attacks that targeted facilities at King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, and a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane at the airport on Thursday.

This came in a statement by the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, regarding the two attacks that the airport was subjected to on October 8.
The authority said the first attack targeted facilities at King Khalid International Airport, while the second targeted a Saudi Airlines plane at the airport.
She added that the two attacks resulted in the death of 3 Saudi citizens and the injury of a number of citizens and residents of different nationalities.
She explained that the injuries ranged from minor to severe, noting that the injured were immediately transferred to hospitals to receive the necessary medical care.
She noted that the two attacks also caused material damage, without providing further details on its extent.
The authority stated that emergency teams and relevant authorities began dealing with the two attacks immediately after they occurred, in accordance with approved procedures and plans.
She confirmed that work is continuing in coordination with the relevant security authorities to assess the damage and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of travelers and employees.
She also stressed the continuation of measures aimed at maintaining the security and safety of the civil aviation system in the Kingdom.
The authority announced the resumption of operational activities at King Khalid International Airport, and the return of air traffic to normal.
The statement did not specify who was responsible for the attacks, but the Houthi group continues to target vital facilities and installations in Saudi Arabia, as part of the ongoing military escalation in the region.
