Iran supports US voters' message against war

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated that the people of the United States (US) have rejected war, following the heavy defeat in the elections suffered by the US political party that largely supports war against Iran, and he added that Tehran supports this stance.

"Whether out of conscience or the cost of life, the American people say NO TO WAR, and we support this message," Qalibaf said.

He warned that if the US government betrays the will of its people in order to serve "interested parties and international blackmailers," it will face a "nightmare."

The statement came after the US midterm elections on Tuesday (November 3). In those elections, the Democratic Party was projected to regain control of the Senate and the House of Representatives (DPR), dealing a blow to President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Trump and Israel launched war against Iran in February this year.

Meanwhile, Qatar continues to mediate between Washington and Tehran amid tensions over the US naval blockade and security in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran said on Monday it was still exchanging messages with the US through mediators. Tehran also stated that reopening the Strait of Hormuz was contingent on Washington's decision to end the blockade.
