PTDI's Black Eagle drone conducts test flight

PT Dirgantara Indonesia conducted a test flight of a Medium Altitude Long Endurance unmanned aircraft named Elang Hitam at West Java International Airport Kertajati, Majalengka.

The flight test was carried out to test the cruising capabilities and other technological sophistication of the domestically made aircraft.

"This flight test is a proof-of-concept for mastering key technologies in the design of the MALE-class PTTA, which includes the system configuration design, automatic flight control system, and long-distance communication system for the MALE-class PTTA," said PTDI Director of Commerce, Technology & Development Mohammad Arif Faisal in an official press release received.

Arif explained that the Black Eagle drone was designed to carry out surveillance and intelligence missions with an operational duration of up to 24 hours at an altitude of up to 20,000 feet.

With this capability, the Black Eagle can be used for military operations in the field of reconnaissance of enemy borders and areas.

The drone can also be used for humanitarian missions such as monitoring disaster locations and searching for victims in difficult terrain.

Furthermore, Arif stated that the flight test was successful. During the test flight, the Black Eagle was accompanied by a PTDI Kodiak aircraft to assess the drone's cruising capabilities.
