Another heat wave begins, reaching temperatures above 45°C; Tijuana will remain cool.

The third heat wave of the season begins today and will bring high temperatures to much of the country, with the exception of Baja California—particularly Tijuana, which will see a maximum temperature of 19 degrees Celsius—and regions in the north of the country. Yesterday, 152 active forest fires were reported in 22 states.

The National Forestry Commission (Conafor) reported that these fires affected 120,000 hectares, with the states with the most cases being Oaxaca, where 25 and 11,969 hectares were affected; Guerrero, where 18 were affected, with 43,174 hectares burned; Chiapas, where 17 were affected, covering 5,830 hectares; Quintana Roo, where 12 were affected, covering 5,830 hectares; Jalisco, where 12 were affected, covering 3,643 hectares; and Nayarit, where 9 were affected, covering 16,656 hectares.

The National Meteorological Service reported that temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius are expected today in Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Michoacán, Guerrero, Morelos, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatán.

Likewise, temperatures will reach 40 to 45 degrees in Baja California - a high of 36 degrees is expected in Mexicali -, Chihuahua, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, northern and southwestern Puebla, northern Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Quintana Roo, as well as highs of 35 to 40 degrees in Durango, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, northern Querétaro and southwestern Mexico State, and 30 to 35 degrees in Tlaxcala and Mexico City.
