Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital said digital literacy now focuses on practical skills.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria said the current digital literacy approach is aimed at developing practical skills and technological independence so that all levels of society can participate in the digital economy.

"Digital literacy programs as we knew them five years ago may have changed. They used to be more mass events, such as gathering thousands of people and giving short lectures on internet usage," Nezar said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the digital literacy approach now needs to be changed, as it is considered sufficient at the basic level. He stated that the focus is now shifting to improving programs for in-depth learning.

Increasing digital literacy is now aimed at producing a young generation that is capable of creating technology, not just using it.

"We don't want the younger generation to just be users. They also need to understand how to create applications and develop technology," he stressed.

Nezar explained that the Ministry of Communication and Digital Development is preparing a more targeted digital education and training pathway through the Digital Talent Scholarship Program.

This program expands collaboration with global technology companies to equip Indonesian talent with skills relevant to industry needs.

"Through BPSDM and the Digital Talent Scholarship, we provide scholarships both domestically and internationally. We tailor this program to the needs of the digital industry through upskilling and reskilling training , " he said.
