With this victory, Hakimi raised his tally of Champions League titles to 3, thus becoming the most decorated African player in the tournament's history, equaling the record of Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto'o.

Eto’o also won the Champions League title 3 times, twice with Barcelona in 2006 and 2009, against Arsenal and then Manchester United, and once with Inter Milan in 2010 against Bayern Munich.

As for Hakimi, he won the major European title for the first time with his former team Real Madrid, in 2018, after beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final, before winning two more titles with Paris Saint-Germain.
