Indonesia aims for third place after failing to qualify for the 2026 FIBA U18 Asia Cup

The Indonesian men's U18 national basketball team is aiming for third place in the 2026 FIBA U18 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers, after losing 50-68 to Thailand in the semifinals, and failing to advance to the 2026 U18 Asia Cup finals.

Following the result, Indonesia still has one match remaining, namely the match for third place against Malaysia which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, at 15.30 WIB.

"Yesterday, they (the players) weren't very relaxed in their play. Our field goals from three points weren't good. Their physical play and physical size were much bigger, which also made things difficult for us," Ismael said in a written statement.

The defeat against the host at the Chan Ka Pho Gymnasium, Krabi, Thailand, Saturday (13/6), ended Indonesia's perfect record in the tournament, having previously achieved two wins in the Group B phase, by defeating Laos 89-35 and Malaysia 65-55.
