Real Madrid have officially announced their first signing of the summer transfer window, just days after appointing Jose Mourinho as the team's new manager.

Real Madrid confirmed in a statement on the club's official website that they have signed Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.

Real Madrid indicated in the statement that an agreement had been reached with Chelsea to sign Marim Cucurella on a six-year contract extending to the end of the 2032 season.

In return, Chelsea thanked Cucurella for everything he had given to the English club over the past years, wishing the left-back success in his career with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid quickly finalized the Cucurella deal despite interest in the player from both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid did not disclose the value of the contract with Cucurella, but according to recent reports, the Royal Club paid Chelsea 55 million euros plus another 5 million in variables for the 27-year-old.

Real Madrid are expected to announce three more signings in the coming period: Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer after the end of the player’s contract with Liverpool, as well as the signing of Bernardo Silva for free after the Portuguese international left Manchester City.
