Deputy Director of the Inclusive and Green Finance Economics Department of Bank Indonesia (BI) Sri Noerhidajati said that 38.1 million MSMEs used the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) to receive payments in the first quarter of 2025.
"Until the first quarter of 2025, Alhamdulillah, QRIS users have reached 56.3 million with a volume of 2.6 billion transactions and most of these QRIS merchants are MSMEs, amounting to 38.1 million," said Sri Noerhidajati in Jakarta, Wednesday.
He stated that digitalization is the key to the transformation of MSMEs to be able to increase competitiveness and business resilience, because in the midst of rapid changes in the era, MSMEs cannot try to use the old methods.
He said that the use of technology, from online marketing to payment systems, has been proven to increase efficiency, expand market reach and open up new opportunities for business growth.
"Expanding access to digital finance strengthens economic and financial inclusion for MSMEs. Through innovations such as QRIS, MSMEs gain convenience in transacting and entering the national financial system. With QRIS, MSME transactions that occur can be recorded digitally and structured," he said.
Sri Noerhidajati said that the digitally recorded transaction data can act as a track record for banks to see the daily cash flow of MSMEs .
He stated that the data could be a reference for banks and other financing institutions to assess the creditworthiness of MSMEs because the data is credible and real-time .
The party also encourages the expansion of economic and financial inclusion of MSMEs through the innovation of the QRIS Tap digital payment system which was just launched in March 2025.
