Guadalajara, October 24.- A transgender woman was attacked with acid while walking with a friend in downtown Guadalajara on October 21. The attacker first approached her to talk, then walked away before returning to commit the attack.
The incident occurred on Madero Street, very close to Calzada Independencia, where municipal medical services personnel provided first aid and transported the victim to Santísima Trinidad Hospital, where they denied him treatment because he had no identification. He was then taken to Cruz Verde, where he was treated.
The Jalisco State Attorney General's Office said it has opened a case to investigate and find the attacker.
For its part, the organization Unión Diversa de Jalisco AC regrets the acid attack on a trans woman and the re-victimization of this woman by some media outlets. But above all, it regrets that the Santísima Trinidad Hospital in Guadalajara denied her care, arguing that she had no identification.
Likewise, they demand that the media be trained on issues of sexual diversity and gender identity.
