Alleged leader of criminal group and six accomplices arrested in New Mexico

Monterrey, January 19.- A suspected leader of a criminal group, along with six of his accomplices, were captured and two more were killed on Tuesday in two operations carried out in the municipalities of Guadalupe and Apodaca, according to the Nuevo León Attorney General's Office.

The first operation was carried out by the State Investigation Agency in the municipality of Guadalupe , where Alan Ervey Juárez, nicknamed El Cano  or  Commander Cano , was arrested  . He is identified as a suspected operator of the   Sinaloa cartel .

Authorities reported that Juárez was captured at a restaurant located in Plaza Valle Soleado , in the Valle Soleado neighborhood, while he was eating with his family.

The detainee is accused of being the mastermind and perpetrator of several executions carried out in recent months in the state.

Following Juárez's arrest, authorities conducted another operation in the municipality of Apodaca, in the Residencial Las Palmas neighborhood, where they located eight of the detainee's accomplices.

The Prosecutor's Office confirmed that two accomplices were killed during a confrontation, in which no prosecutorial or police officers were injured. Six more accomplices were arrested by authorities.
