Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, said that during each meeting of his commission, only water is served, rather than snacks or light meals that may not necessarily be consumed by the members of the council participating in the meeting.
"So, during the meeting, just drink water. Water is enough because people need to drink water every three hours. But when it comes to food, it's difficult for people aged 50 and over to eat that kind of food. You have to be careful (about what you eat). In my opinion, just drink water," said Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday.
He considered serving snacks in boxes on each council member's desk at each meeting inappropriate because in one day alone, his committee could have up to three meetings, even though it was not certain that all of them would be eaten by the legislator in question.
"Once they change snacks, the meeting lasts for at least two hours, and then they change snacks again. It seems like most of the members don't eat those snacks," he said.
