Chaotic migrant protest against AMLO in Ciudad Juárez

Cd. Juárez, Chih., April 1.- Amid chaos, migrants protested before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in this border city to demand justice for the 39 foreigners who died at the immigration station last Monday.

This morning, the president announced at his press conference at the National Palace that during his visit to Ciudad Juárez, he would meet with the doctors treating the 24 migrants still hospitalized with various types of injuries—11 of them serious—although it was not disclosed at the border whether the meeting actually took place.

What the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, confirmed at a press conference is that the heads of the Ministry of Health, Jorge Alcocer; the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo; and the Social Security Institute for State Workers (ISSSTE), Pedro Zenteno, visited several hospitals where the injured are being treated.

That evening, the Chief Executive announced on Twitter: "I had scheduled evaluations by the Banco del Bienestar in Tijuana and Juárez. I was accompanied by the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer, and the Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, to see hospitalized migrants in the latter city and improve their medical care. I hope they recover."
