Coepris suspends candy stores at movie theaters in Plaza Río and Carrusel "due to poor hygiene"

Tijuana, April 14. The State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Coepris) temporarily suspended the operation of candy stores at two movie theaters in the Carrusel and Plaza Río plazas due to poor hygiene conditions. Additionally, fines will be imposed based on the observed violations.

The director of the agency, Erwin Areizaga Uribe, reported that "following complaints made through the State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks," they carried out two inspections at the candy stores, which resulted in the temporary suspension.

"Various irregularities were detected, such as poor hygiene in the preparation of popcorn, inadequate waste management, poor maintenance of the grease trap, among other anomalies that can cause gastrointestinal problems during food consumption," the company explained in a press release.

Areizaga Uribe explained that the suspension was implemented to prevent illness among the population, and that after the measure was taken and the companies submitted a letter requesting rectification of the problems, they were granted access to the properties to work on the required modifications.
